With Practical Magic 2 on the horizon, there feels like no better time to lean into a more witchy way of dressing. These five looks are my modest take on dark femininity, my personal style and pieces I return to again and again.
My style has always sat in a darker place. If you are someone who comes alive in bright colours, I am probably not the woman for you in personal style terms, because I have always naturally gravitated towards a more witchy, and dark feminine way of dressing. I recently had my colour analysis done and found out I am a Winter, which made a lot of sense, but surprisingly, I was told red is a great colour for me.
I am also a serial outfit repeater, constantly restyling the same pieces into slightly different moods, silhouettes and combinations, so this edit feels very true to how I dress in real life. With Practical Magic 2 now back in the conversation ahead of its release, returning to that world of dark femininity, intuition and beloved 90s witchiness felt especially fitting, and these looks are my own modest take on that mood straight from my very own wardrobe.
Look 1
The long lost third Owens sister: dark, romantic and a little undone in the best way. The velvet devoré layer brings in that witchy, heirloom feel, while the black column underneath keeps it grounded and modest. Finished with the belt and boots, it feels like the kind of look that is dramatic without trying too hard.

Look 2
This feels like Sally Owens’ casual everyday outfit for running her herbal remedy shop. The cape-style top adds softness and shape, while the long black skirt keeps the silhouette modest and easy. Finished with ballet flats, a vintage-inspired belt and a structured bag, it feels practical, understated and quietly witchy.

Look 3
If Sally is dressing for a sensible day at the herbal remedy shop, this is Gillian dressing for wherever the night happens to take her. Slightly more glam, a little more undone, and far more appropriate for running off on a romantic escapade than quietly minding the herbal shop. The sheer layer gives it that softer, looser movement, while the boots and gold jewellery stop it from feeling too delicate. It is still modest, just with a little more mischief to it.

Look 4
If Sally were ever allowed one peaceful romantic evening, this softer, prettier look is probably what she would wear on a date if her love life was not quite so fatally cursed. The cape-style top and lace-trimmed skirt feel delicate and romantic, while the black keeps it from becoming too sugary. Finished with ballet flats and gold jewellery, it has that gentle, slightly dreamy kind of witchy femininity.

Look 5
This feels like Gillian in one of her more chaotic romantic eras. The shirt-and-tie layering gives it a slightly borrowed-from-him edge and more rebellious attitude, while the dress underneath keeps it feminine and a little undone. Finished with heeled boots and gold hoops, it feels bold, wild and exactly the kind of look you wear when good decisions are not the priority.

And here are the pieces worn in real life, straight from my own wardrobe. I am a serial outfit repeater through and through, so these looks are never just for a moodboard - they are built from things I already own, already love, and return to again and again in different ways.
