Cultural Fusion
Kimesca is our new contemporary British modestwear brand, seamlessly merging the realms of high fashion and modesty. Founded by my husband, Kamil, and me, our aesthetic centres on a refined vision of today’s modest woman, infused with the personal flair of our cultural fusion. My husband, a British Pakistani Muslim, brought the rich traditions of Islamic culture into our married life. During events tied to these traditions, I often felt a kind of impostor syndrome, unworthy of wearing traditional clothing, as if it belonged to a world I deeply respected but didn’t fully inhabit. From these experiences, I set out to create contemporary modest gowns that draw on both my personal life and a career that has included designing for Represent Womenswear, Maserati, Zara, Harrods, and more in the European and U.S. markets.
For me, it was important to build a British brand of contemporary modest gowns that speaks directly to all women, not only those from traditionally modest cultures. I’ve often found myself, and heard from many others, wishing that not every dress had a plunging neckline, a thigh-high slit, or revealing cut-outs. Kimesca isn’t an ‘instead of’ brand; it’s an ‘as well as’ brand, another option for those who choose it.
