Every Kimesca gown begins with a commitment to quality, thoughtful design, and an uncompromised approach to materials. From the outset, mulberry silk was chosen with intention. I did not want to offer fabrics that feel insubstantial or fail to justify a premium price. Its natural properties, the fluidity, drape, subtle lustre, temperature-regulating comfort, and its inherent strength allow the gown to fall and move as the design intended to. A 100% silk dress rarely retails below £500 on the market, and the Kimesca gown uses notably more fabric than a standard piece due to its modest silhouette and full floor-length drape layer, which adds further value to its construction.
The craftsmanship behind each gown takes place in a London atelier, where the entire process, from pattern cutting to sampling to final production, is carried out by skilled professionals. Pattern cutters and seamstresses work through several rounds of sampling, fittings and alterations before the final version is approved. This human craftsmanship is integral to the garment; nothing is rushed, and nothing is outsourced to cut corners.
The creation process itself spans years of accumulated fashion-design experience, combined with market understanding and a personal perspective on what modest fashion often lacks. Before a single gown was made, years have been spent designing, researching, and refining ideas. The final silhouette is narrowed down through trend analysis, customer insight, colour research, and commercial evaluation. From there, detailed technical packs were produced, fabric and trims were sourced, patterns were cut, and the sampling cycle began. Each sample went through fit sessions, amendments and further sampling until the gown achieved the precise shape, movement and coverage intended. Only then did the production phase begin: fabric was ordered in bulk, labels and packaging were produced, the photoshoot was executed, and full production commenced in the London atelier studio. Each gown then undergoes quality control before being transported to fulfilment, where it is carefully packaged and prepared for dispatch.
Kimesca has been built by combining years of industry experience, a clear understanding of what the market is missing, and a genuine belief that modest eveningwear can be made to a high fashion standard. Every gown reflects the time, craft, and resources required to produce something that feels considered, and respects the women who choose to wear it.
Behind the Scenes
Sewn into the foundations of British craftsmanship and shaped through considered hands, thoughtful cuts, and the discipline of modern modest design. Kimesca is deeply committed to British craftsmanship, working with a London manufacturer who has produced for iconic houses such as Vivienne Westwood and JW Anderson. This ensures that each gown upholds the precision, artistry, and innovation synonymous with contemporary British design.
Kimesca stands apart in today’s crowded landscape by bringing the language of Western high fashion into dialogue with the concept of modesty. The result is a blueprint gown that honours cultural richness while speaking to contemporary design: distinctively modern, unmistakably refined, and open to any woman who sees herself in the design - modest or otherwise.
