A Closer Look at the True Kimesca Dress
The details I love most
When I created the True Kimesca dress, the intention was never simply to make another modest dress. The goal was to design a silk modest dress that could hold its own in a high-fashion wardrobe while still honouring modest dressing.
Over time, I’ve realised that many of the things I love most about this modest dress are the details people don’t always immediately see. So I wanted to share a closer look at some of the elements that define the True Kimesca silk modest maxi dress - a piece designed to sit comfortably amongst elegant modest dresses for weddings, formal events and special occasions.
Made in London
One of the most important decisions I made was to keep production in London. Sampling, fittings and development all happened here, allowing us to refine the long sleeve modest dress carefully throughout the process. Creating a made in London dress meant we could remain closely involved in every stage of development, from the first pattern to the final garment.
London has a long history of garment craftsmanship, and working locally meant we could be incredibly hands-on with every stage of development. The studio itself also carries immense credibility, having produced garments for brands such as Vivienne Westwood, JW Anderson and Agent Provocateur.

100% Silk Fabric
Fabric was something I didn't want to compromise on. The dress is made from 100% silk, chosen for the way it moves and drapes across the body, as well as its breathability and comfort.
Silk has a natural fluidity that works beautifully with modest silhouettes. Rather than feeling stiff or heavy, it allows the garment to move effortlessly, creating that soft sense of flow that defines this modest maxi dress.
This is a particularly favoured fabric for more formal occasions, making it well suited to modest evening dresses, black tie events, wedding guest dresses, formal cocktail dresses, proms and Eid celebrations.
It’s also one of those fabrics that simply feels different the moment you wear it. To learn how to care for silk dresses, click here.
Making Silk More Accessible
One of the things that mattered most to me when creating the True Kimesca dress was making exceptional fabric feel more accessible. Silk garments, especially those using this amount of fabric, are often priced significantly higher. Silk is one of the most expensive natural fibres used in fashion and many comparable silk modest dresses from contemporary brands can easily sit anywhere between £500 and £1000 plus.
From the beginning, the intention was to keep the dress as attainable as possible while still maintaining the quality of the material and construction. Using 100% silk was never something we wanted to compromise on, but neither was creating a piece that women could realistically add to their wardrobe.
For many women looking for modest dresses for wedding guests, formal evenings or special occasions, finding pieces made from exceptional fabrics at an accessible price point can often be difficult.
French Seams
Another detail I personally love is the use of French seams throughout the garment.
This is a technique where the raw edges of the fabric are enclosed within the seam itself, creating a clean interior finish. It’s a small detail, but it’s one that speaks to quality construction and longevity.
When you turn the dress inside out, it looks just as considered as it does on the outside.
It’s the type of construction often found in high-quality formal dresses, where longevity and craftsmanship matter just as much as appearance.

The Colour
The colour was also a very intentional choice. Deep jewel tones have always felt timeless to me - rich, elegant and quietly striking.
They allow the silhouette to stand out without needing excessive embellishment. It’s the kind of colour that works across different settings, from needing a modest dress for formal occasions to evening gatherings, while still feeling distinctive.
The Intention
Kimesca was created with the belief that modest fashion should not be treated as a seasonal niche. Too often it is spoken about only during moments like Ramadan or Eid, when in reality modest dressing exists far beyond these occasions and has a rightful place within the wider fashion landscape all year round.
The intention behind the brand was to interpret modest silhouettes through a contemporary, high-fashion lens. Inspired by the modern woman, Kimesca explores how modest dressing can feel refined and expressive, and comfortably sit in a high-fashion setting.
Alongside traditional garments such as abayas, which hold deep cultural significance, contemporary modest silhouettes can also exist and are designed for any woman who prefers modest dressing, whether by choice, faith or aesthetic preference.
At its core, Kimesca exists to show that modest fashion is not a subcategory of style, but an enduring and thoughtful way of dressing.
